A man who handed himself into a police station after he bludgeoned his friend with a claw hammer at least a dozen times at a west London flat has been convicted of murder.
Giuseppe Lo Medico, 55, of no fixed address, attacked Terrence Longman, 50, at an address in Cumberland Park, Acton, on March 24 this year.
Yesterday, he was convicted of his murder at the Old Bailey.
Lo Medico led officers to Mr Longman's body after he walked into Acton police station and said he had been drinking and that he thought his friend was dead.
The 50-year-old was discovered inside the flat with a claw hammer at the scene.
The following day, a post-mortem examination ruled the cause of death as a head injury. It is believed Mr Longman received between 12 and 13 blows on the forehead.
Lo Medico is due to be sentenced on Monday.
