A man from south-east London will face court accused of trying to punch Crystal Palace’s bald eagle mascot Kayla.

Daniel Boylett, 35, of Mottingham, was arrested after the club’s Capital One Cup match against south London rivals Charlton at Selhurst Park on September 23.

Scotland Yard confirmed Boylett had been charged with violent disorder and criminal damage.

He has been bailed to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 29.

Police said six people were arrested on the night of the match, which Palace won 4-1, for disorder inside and outside the stadium.

Witnesses reported scuffles between supporters and said flares and bottles were hurled around families with young children.
