Police in south-west London have shut down a huge cannabis farm that was being used to grow industrial quantities of the illegal drug.

Officers raided a residential address in Sheen Court, North Richmond, and found a huge quantity of cannabis plants inside, as well as what police described as "huge" DIY electrical tampering.

One man was arrested in relation to the illegal operation, and is currently in custody, police said.

Richmond officers obtained a warrant and entered the property by force, after residents living nearby reported their suspicions.

Sgt Rich Nelson, supervisor for North Richmond ward told the Standard: "We received information that cannabis plants were being grown inside the property.
