Robber shoves woman to ground before stealing her crutch and handbag

A robber forced an injured woman to the ground before stealing her handbag and the crutch she walked with in east London.

The suspect attacked his victim in an alleyway near to Montague Street, Whitechapel after asking her for directions to an off licence at around 3.30am on January 24.

The woman, aged in her 30s, had offered to walk with the man towards the shop but when they turned into the alleyway he pushed her to the ground and snatched her crutch and her handbag.

Police have released CCTV footage of the suspect walking into a petrol station on Whitechapel Road prior to talking to the victim.

He is described as an Asian man with short black hair, of medium build, and aged 30-40 years old.

The suspect wore light coloured trousers, a dark jacket and pointed shoes.
