Runaway schoolgirl Megan Stammers was at a secret location with her mother today being assessed by child protection officers.

Megan, 15, from Eastbourne, who went on the run with her maths teacher Jeremy Forrest, is being interviewed by detectives.

The pair were found in Bordeaux on Friday after fleeing the UK on September 20. Forrest, 30, was “extremely depressed” and wanted to return to Britain, insisting: “I have done nothing wrong,” officials said.

The married teacher is in custody and tomorrow will face court in Bordeaux before extradition to Britain. The European arrest warrant states that Megan was travelling on a passport belonging to Mr Forrest’s wife Emily, 31.
