A murder probe has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a brawl in east London.

The victim, believed to be in his mid-twenties or early thirties, was knifed repeatedly in the attack in Stepney Green on Monday.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in Globe Road, where the man was found suffering stab wounds at about 2.35pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon remained in place this evening.

No arrests have been made.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said officers were called to reports of a “fight in progress” in Globe Road.

In statement, the force added: “A man, thought to be aged in his mid-twenties or early thirties, was discovered suffering from stab wounds.

“Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this early stage there have been no arrests. A crime scene is in place and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.”
