The father of a young athlete stabbed to death on a Tube said he was a “perfect son with no enemies” who was planning for the trip of a lifetime.

Fashion photographer Tashan Daniel, 20, was travelling to an Arsenal match with a friend when thugs launched a “senseless and totally unprovoked” attack on a platform at Hillingdon station at 4pm on Tuesday.

His father Chandima Daniel, 48, who works at Heathrow, told the Standard: “Tashan had wanted to go to the game with me but I couldn’t get time off work, so he went with a friend.

“This was the first game he was paying for himself so it was special.

“He had never been in trouble and had a great future ahead of him.”

Tashan had worked at a Hackney-based fashion photography agency but was taking a break after being selected to join a training trip to Florida through Hillingdon Athletic Club.

His father said: “It was a very big deal to be selected. He ran 200 metres. It was the trip of a lifetime.” He added: “He doted on his younger sister and would do anything for the family. He was a homely, perfect son. Tashan had no enemies.”

Tashan and his friend were heading to the Emirates Stadium via the Piccadilly line when two men “provoked a fight”, police said. One pulled out a knife and stabbed Tashan. He stumbled on to a train carriage where he died.

No arrests have been made. British Transport Police said anyone with information should call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 382 of 24/09/2019 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
