Woolwich stabbing: Teen dies after knife attack in south east London

A young man has died after being stabbed in south east London.

Emergency services rushed to Academy Road, Woolwich, just before 3.30pm where they found the victim, believed to be aged 18, with serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of passers-by, police and paramedics, he died at the scene.

Police believe they know the victim's identity and have informed his next of kin.

Urgent enquiries are underway to establish what happened and a post-mortem exam will be held in due course.

A crime scene and road closures are in place.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information, video or images that could assist police, are asked to call 101 ref CAD 4426/15 March.
