Commuters faced heavy delays this afternoon after a man climbed onto the Tube tracks at King’s Cross.

The Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines are suffering “severe” delays after the man stepped on the line at about 2.30pm.

He then got back up to the platform where he was arrested by British Transport Police on suspicion of trespass.

A spokesman for BTP said: "Officers attended the northbound Metropolitan line platform and detained the man, who had returned to the platform.

"He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of trespass and is currently in custody."

Delays are affecting the stretch between Baker Street and Aldgate.
