Police have charged two men in connection with a £1million UK bank heist after £80,000 and a suspected live hand grenade was seized during raids in Enfield and Islington.
Gediminas Simkus, 31, of Bowes Road, Enfield, and Volodymyr Kurach, 31, of Stadium Mews, Highbury, face various charges of fraud and conspiracy to launder money.
They will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.
Police were alerted after customers reported inadvertently downloading computer viruses after opening emails claiming to be from their bank.
A total of £1million was then siphoned off from their accounts, ready to be withdrawn as cash.
Addresses in Stadium Mews, Islington and another in Bowes Road, Enfield were raided by detectives on Tuesday morning.
Computers, smart phones, designer jewellery and a Range Rover were seized.
Specialist officers also removed a suspected live hand grenade from the Enfield property.
A 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to launder money, and possession of an explosive.
They have been bailed to return on a date early next year.
DCI Jason Tunn said: "The Met's Cyber Crime Unit is determined to protect people and businesses in London from cyber crime, which can see businesses ruined and people’s hard-earned money taken from them in a second.
"We are working closely the banking industry to achieve that."
