Two men have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences, Scotland Yard said.

One, aged 50, was held in Westminster, central London, on suspicion of encouragement of terrorism and possessing information useful to persons preparing or committing acts of terrorism.

The second, aged 57, was arrested in Barnet, north London, on suspicion of encouragement of terrorism.

Three properties - two in Westminster and one in Barnet - are being searched, with a number of cars, police said.

The Westminster arrest took place at a residential address and not near any major landmark.
