Millions of pounds have been raised and thousands of Londoners’ lives transformed by the Dispossessed Fund — and now you can buy the T-shirt.

Matches, which has four boutiques in London and a hugely successful online store, has enlisted some of the biggest names in British fashion to support the Evening Standard’s fund to help people living in poverty and challenging circumstances in the capital.

In celebration of Olympic year, designers including London Fashion Week favourites Jonathan Saunders, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda Ilincic have created a limited edition range of T-shirts.

The designs will be unveiled in full in tomorrow’s Standard, and can be bought online and at Matches boutiques from next Thursday.

Saunders, arguably the most sought-after designer of the moment, was among the first to join the project, reinterpreting the peony print from his latest catwalk collection with Olympic colours.

The Scot, who is currently working on his next spring/summer collection, said: “It is incredibly important for me as a Londoner to be a part of a cause that assists those in need, through funding that helps aid in education, health and unemployment for those less fortunate.”

Greek designer Katrantzou praised the Dispossessed Fund for its fight against “the causes that deprive families of a better future”. Others taking part are Holly Fulton, Richard Nicoll, Herself, and J W Anderson.

All profits made from the T-shirts, priced at £60, go to the fund, which has raised £8.4 million.

Since being launched a year ago, it has contributed to 568 groups and distributed £3 million to charitable and community-led projects in every London borough.

Ruth Chapman, co-founder and chief executive of Matches, said she wanted to “give back” to the city with the collection and was “proud to be able to support the Dispossessed Fund in its fight to tackle poverty”.

Stephen Hammersley, chief executive of the Community Foundation Network, which looks after the fund, said: “The Dispossessed Fund has succeeded in helping get many people get closer to enjoying the good things that London has to offer. It is brilliant news that leading designers and Matches are helping in this way.”
