Police were today called to Blackfiars station at rush hour after a suspect vechicle was found parked in an alley.

Photographs posted on social media show a black Renault Clio left on the Thames Path, close to Blackfriars Bridge, on the south side of the busy City commuter hub.

A Met Police spokeswoman confirmed officers had been called to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

She added cordons had been put up as a precaution by officers, who were assessing the vehicle.

Witnesses posted on Twitter that the station was filled with police after the discovery of the vehicle.

David Hughes (@Toadehouse) said: "Blackfriars station closed southbank exit. Many police."

Joanna Seabright (@JibberJabberJo) posted: "Cops, dogs, everything going on at Blackfriars right now."

And another witness said they saw "police everywhere".

Transport for London and Network Rail said Tube and train services to and from Blackfriars were not affected.

The incident was later stood down and the vehicle was found to be non-suspicious.
