Croydon warehouse fire: 100 firefighters tackle large blaze at self-storage depot in south London

More than 100 firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a self-storage warehouse in south London.

Twenty fire engines and around 120 crew members were called to the scene on Purley Way, Croydon, just before 7.50pm on New Year's Eve.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

A photo posted on social media by London Fire Brigade (LFB) suggested the fire is at a Shurgard self-storage facility.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

Crews were still battling the flames at 11pm on Monday night, according the brigade's latest update.

Station Manager Jason Jones, who was at the scene said: "This is a significant fire in a large self-storage warehouse. There is a lot of smoke in the local area and we'd ask residents to keep their doors and windows closed. Thankfully no one was inside the property at the time of the fire and there are no reports of any injuries.

"Firefighters will be at the scene throughout the night."
