A Ferrari worth £220,000 suffered damage when its rear bumper was apparently hit by a police car in a late-night smash on a London street.

A video, posted online by a blogger at supercarscene, shows the aftermath of the crash.

The police car is firmly stuck to the bumper of the Ferrari 458 Spider, which had a large part of its bodywork ripped away when the two cars were separated.

Blogger WallacePJW, who posted the story, wrote yesterday: "You can see a London police car getting a bit too friendly with a custom 458 Spider. It needs a new rear bumper."

He said the Ferrari was "shunted pretty hard as it was reversing," according to a witness.

"It looks like an expensive error," he added.

Nobody at website supercarscene was available for further comment today.

The crash happened at 12.30am on Sunday on the Edgware Road, police confirmed.

The video has been viewed more than 10,000 times since it was posted yesterday.

In the clip, bystanders can be heard laughing out loud as the two cars stand motionless in the street.

A Met police spokesman said: "We can confirm a police car was in collision with a Ferrari. No one was injured during the collision and no arrests were made."

They were not able to confirm any of the circumstances of the crash.

The Ferrari 458 Spider has a top speed of 202mph and does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.
