Did you keep the receipt? Women are fussier over gifts they receive

Christmas shop: but men are more generous, a survey has found
PA

Men are both more generous with Christmas gifts and less fussy about what they receive than women, research has revealed.

An overwhelming 74 per cent of men reported being happy with the presents they received from their other halves last year, but just 36 per cent of women said they were satisfied.

And the older women get, the less likely they are to be pleased with a gift, the Jacamo menswear survey of more than 2,000 people suggested.

More than half of young women aged 18 to 25 were content, but that fell to 41 per cent in women over 55.

Despite a reputation for last-minute purchasing, men spend an average of £14 more on their partners than women, shelling out £82 on presents compared with women paying £68.

Additionally, 11 per cent of men said they intended to spend at least £200 on their partner during Christmas, as against six per cent of women.

Any man wanting to ensure the woman in his life is thrilled this year should make it clear how long he spent coming up with the perfect gift, the research suggests.

A perceived lack of thought was the main reason nearly half of women were disappointed.
