A man has died after being hit by a train in south-east London.

The man was struck by a Docklands Light Railway service at Elverson Road station, Lewisham, at about 9.50am on Monday.

The man’s age and identity were not yet known. British Transport Police said it was not treating his death as suspicious.

A spokesman for BTP said: “We were called to Elverson Road Docklands Light Railway station following a report of a person being struck by a train.

“Colleagues from Metropolitan Police Service, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service also attended, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to identify him and inform his family."
