A last-minute debate to encourage undecided young people to vote in the EU referendum was held last night in an effort to provide objective information on both campaigns.
Undecided voters were given the opportunity to receive objective information and ask questions about the possible consequences of a Leave or Remain outcome.
Bite the Ballot, an organisation that campaigns to encourage young people to get involved in politics, set up stations on topics such as ‘opportunity’ and ‘identity’.
Campaigns manager Abiodun Olatokun said: “We’re working with wavering or undecided voters to help them make that decision and take part in one of the most important contests in a generation.
“It’s not about in or out, left or right, green or red, but about getting as many young citizens as possible to use their vote.”
Student Joe Jessener said: “Even though I have to vote really soon, I still find myself being undecided – that’s why I came to this event.
“I’m really struggling to vote on an issue where so much is uncertain. I feel like it hasn’t been a very factual campaign by either side.”
Undecided voter Diana Hamid: “I don’t know what I’m voting for, but I just wanted to come to hear people’s opinions and hear what’s better for us in the future.”
