A father and his two young children escaped serious injury when the car they were travelling in overturned following a crash in west London.

The trio managed to leave the car after it flipped on to its roof in Craven Park Road, Harlesden.

They were taken to hospital by ambulance crews where they were treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters highlighted the importance of wearing seatbelts, warning the outcome could have been tragic if they weren't used at the time of the crash.

Park Royal Watch Manager Dave Kelly said: “Despite the car completely flipping over onto its roof the father and two children only had minor injuries thanks to them all wearing seatbelts.

“As firefighters we have all witnessed serious road traffic collisions where people have been badly injured or killed when they haven’t belted up. It’s important that everyone makes sure they and their children always wear seat belts and drive safely at all times.”

Firefighters from Park Royal and Wembley fire stations were called at 3.19pm on Monday.
