A stubborn moggy climbed on to shelves in a London branch of Sainsbury's and refused to leave.

The ginger feline was pictured hiding on a sweet shelf surrounded by packets of chocolates and crisps.

Shopper Jenny Stevens, who took the image, tweeted: “Cat just chilling in Brockley Sainsbury's. Security tried to remove him. He sauntered straight back in.”

The cat was also filmed wandering around the supermarket aisles after being spotted in the shop on Wednesday.

Owner Adam Oliver, an academic at the London School of Economics, said six-year-old Olly frequently visits the Sainsbury’s, which is near his home, and is also known to a nearby café.

He said: “Olly is always at Sainsbury’s - I don't think he can fit any other shops in his schedule.”

Of Olly's somewhat grumpy appearance, he added: "That's just his face."
