A woman is seriously injured in hospital after she was involved in a “horrific” crash on the North Circular.

Distressed witnesses said they saw a “person under a vehicle” after a car collided with the 54-year-old pedestrian on the A406 at 10.21pm on Monday.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene and the woman was taken to a central London hospital where she remains with serious injuries.

One onlooker tweeted: “Horrific accident on the A406 tonight with a person under a vehicle. Please pray for all those involved.”

The driver of the car stopped at the scene, near the junction with Brentfield Road in Neasden, and is helping police with their enquiries.

Police said she has not been arrested.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and have appealed for a black cab driver who they believe may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

A section of the North Circular between Harrow Road and Brentfield Road was closed for around four hours following the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the witness appeal line at Alperton Traffic Garage on 020 8991 9555.
