Gallery to open in Wellington’s Arch

13 April 2012

English Heritage has transformed the top of the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner into an exhibition space called the Quadriga Gallery.

It will be used for a series of fast-changing shows exploring England’s history including the story of Stonehenge, Kenwood House, Blackpool Tower and the influence of ancient Egypt.

Announcing that the gallery will open on May 9, English Heritage chief executive Simon Thurley said: “We are very excited to be able to present a series of topical exhibitions right in the heart of London. We hope that it will become a popular venue for people interested in England’s history.”

There will also be a permanent show on the history of the landmark which marks Wellington’s defeat of Napoleon.

Adult admission is £4.
