The family of a young woman who fell to her death from the balcony of her fourth floor flat today spoke of their “devastation.”
Jourdain John-Baptiste, 22, was found on the ground outside 10-storey Gainsborough House, in Enfield, North London after neighbours heard her screaming moments before.
Paramedics treated her at the scene and she was taken to an east London hospital where she died later that day.
Murder detectives are treating her death as “unexplained” and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A 24-year-old man, who is known to Miss John-Baptiste, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm before being released on police bail.
Miss John-Baptiste’s aunt told the Standard: “We love her and miss her. It’s a horrific experience. As a family we are devastated. It’s all very fresh and we need to grieve as a family.
“She’s my niece and I love her. It’s just been awful. It’s unimaginable. Words can’t explain how we have been feeling. I can’t find the words, it’s horrific.
“We don’t know what the circumstances were, we don’t know, and that’s all I can say.”
Miss John-Baptiste was a former Salisbury School pupil who worked as a senior administrator for heating company Liberty Gas.
Friends described her as a beautiful woman with “a lot to live for” and a beautiful singing voice.
