A Londoner has today revealed a series of stunning photos he took of a blinding electrical storm lighting up the capital’s skyline.

The incredible images were taken by graphic designer Bill Roberts from his high-rise apartment in Homerton, east London late last night.

Rolling thunder and bolts of lightning flashed through the sky as a month's worth of rain fell overnight across the capital.

Mr Roberts posted one of the images to his Instagram page where it has received a flurry of positive comments.

The 29-year-old told the Standard: “As soon as I saw the storm, I decided to set up my camera and shoot some video, I left it for 10 minutes and that’s what I got.

“I’ve had a lot of people telling me they are great shots. I am kind of lucky being in a flat so high up and having that beautiful view of the city.”
