Londoners snap amazing photos of incredible winter sunrise

These incredible photographs shot by Londoners show a beautiful sunrise over the capital this morning.

The Shard, Tower Bridge and other landmarks are silhouetted against the soft orange glow of the winter sun as it arcs into the clear sky.

Dozens of commuters were distracted from their weary traipse by the stunning scenes, with many posting photos of the sunrise on social media.

Dan Doherty, executive chef at Heron Tower’s 40^th floor Duck and Waffle restaurant in the City, tweeted a spectacular view over east London with the caption: “Gorgeous sunrise with some random clouds knocking about”

Others snapped views from Greenwich, Embankment and even on board aircraft above the city.

It comes amid plunging temperatures after an unseasonably warm weekend.

The mercury hit 15C on Sunday, but was forecast to drop below freezing this week.
