A documentary about the life of ex-gangster 'Mad' Frankie Fraser is set to be screened on London Live this evening.

The short film will include exclusive interviews from Mr Fraser's former friends and adversaries.

The lifelong south Londoner died in hospital aged 90 yesterday after slipping into a coma following complications during surgery for a leg injury.

A London Live spokesman said: "In this documentary we forget the celebrity myth and find out who this man really is.

"We strip away the well rehearsed storytelling patter and re-trace his life from his wayward childhood in the 30s, to the ‘smash and grab’ war years, to his time spent with the powerful Soho gangster Billy Hill, to his work with the Richardson Gang… and that’s not to mention the Krays, the Great Train Robbers and the numerous prison riots over the years".

Frankie Fraser's Last Stand will be shown at 9pm on www.londonlive.co.uk.
