A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car in south London.

The 49-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries following the crash in London Road, Mitcham, shortly before 8.50pm on Friday.

He was taken to a south London hospital and remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene.

No arrests have been made, a Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton on 020 8247 6935.
