Doors shook during a "massive explosion" that destroyed a van in south London this morning.

Firefighters had the blaze under control at 5.40am, just 10 minutes after a bang so loud neighbours thought their doors were being kicked in.

Rotherhithe Tour (@rotherhithetour) captured this dramatic video, which shows smoke billowing over houses in Swan Road, alongside the message: "Massive explosion in Rotherhithe just now. Doors shook. Van engulfed in flames on Swan Road.

"Loud bang. Sounded like door being kicked in. Opened window. Van on fire."

Others praised the fire brigade's speedy response. "Very swiftly dealt with too," wrote Paul (@squashypigeon). "Thanks fire peeps!"

London Fire Brigade said no one had been injured. It is not known what caused the fire.
