Murdoch promotes son as Fox TV chief

Rupert Murdoch today risked investors’ wrath with plans to promote his son James to run his Fox TV empire.

Analysts said the promotion could increase the size of the protest vote at next month’s annual meeting when he faces re-election to the board.

Almost 35 per cent of shareholders voted against Mr Murdoch last year and since then the cost of the hacking scandal has spiralled to £250 million.
