A good Samaritan who left a note on a woman’s Mini after it was scraped by a truck has been traced through the power of the internet.

Natalie-Jane Davey, 28, posted an image on social networking sites of the kind letter left on her vehicle after she parked it in Shaftesbury Road, Richmond, last Friday.

The note said her Mini was scratched by a truck-driver who drove off and included the culprit’s registration number.

But the note was only signed off as ‘Lee’, leaving Ms Davey unable to prosecute the truck driver as police require a formal witness statement.

A huge internet campaign was sparked to trace Lee using the hashtag #FindLee and even celebrities got behind the cause including Paul Scholes, Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan and Mini makers themselves.

Lee found: Lee Harris, 25, came forward as the letter writer

Last night Ms Davey tweeted to inform her followers Lee was found, with security worker Lee Harris coming forward as the do-gooder.

Mr Harris, 25, of Ealing, said he has only recently found out about the internet campaign and was informed of Ms Davey’s crusade by his policeman friend.

He has since been in touch with Miss Davey who has passed on his details to the insurance company.

Mr Harris said: “The first time I talked to her she was mainly happy, but I had to make her aware it was me. I am guessing she is over the moon, she seemed it.

“I am still trying to catch up with all of the tweets with the hashtag. I am seeing lots and lots of re-tweets it is a bit of a shock to the system.”

Ms Davey tweeted: “Lee has been found, thank you to every single one of you.”
