Renewed appeals have been made for help to trace the identity of a man who was found wandering in west London.

The Asian man was found at Hammersmith Broadway bus station on Friday, July 24, and is currently at a central London hospital.

The picture released of the man showed him having a beard, and reports at the time said he was 5'7" tall, but a woman who has come to know the man throughout his time in hospital has said he is actually around six feet tall, and normally cleanshaven.

She said: "This man is currently in the same hospital ward as my husband and it's no wonder nobody has come forward to recognise him.

"He thinks the beard may have grown during the days when he was wandering, lost and confused. I have a new photo of him on my mobile phone, but can’t find a way to send it to you, except as a text message.

"He knows a lot about Ealing but from years ago, he remembers it in the 1970s.

"He's very quietly spoken, very nice, I take him the puzzle pages and he rattles them off, and he solves the chess puzzles too.

"I think about four people have contacted the police thinking they know him, but it's been a false alarm each time."

Anyone who recognises the man should contact the Hammersmith Missing Persons Unit on 020 8246 2815.
