Three London boroughs are among the ten worst places in the UK for drugs, it has been revealed.

Islington, Camden and Tower Hamlets were found to have some of the biggest drug problems in the country, based on people dying or being taken to hospital.

According to the Mirror, 1,513 drug-related crimes were committed in Tower Hamlets between 2015 and 2016.

Islington was found to be the fourth worst place in the country for drug abuse, topped by Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Liverpool.

Camden was rated fifth and Tower Hamlets eighth.

In a similar study of the UK’s worst places for alcohol problems no London boroughs were found to be in the top ten.

Salford, in Greater Manchester, suffered the biggest number of deaths caused by alcohol.

In Manchester alone, 234 people died because of alcohol in 2014, and 6,000 people in the city were being prescribed drugs to help with alcohol dependency in 2015-16.
