London train delays: Disruption hits two Tube lines, TfL rail, Thameslink and overground

Commuters faced chaos in London this morning with severe delays on two Tube lines, the overground and TfL rail.

The District Line has faced severe delays between Earl's Court and Wimbledon and minor delays between Edgware Road and Earls Court.

These issues were prompted by a signal failure at Parson's Green.

The Metropolitan Line had severe delays due to a faulty train at Finchley Road earlier.

There was also no service between South Tottenham and Barking on the Overground, with severe delays from Liverpool Street to Cheshunt.

For TfL rail there are severe delays between Liverpool Street and Shenfield due to late finish of engineering works in the Ilford area.

A TfL statement said: “We apologise to District line and Metropolitan line customers for the disruption to their journeys this morning. This was caused by a signal failure at Parsons Green and a faulty train at Finchley Road. Our engineers worked as quickly as possible to fix the issues and we are now working to restore a normal service.”

Thameslink is also investigating a fault near Harpenden with signalling, with issues on the line to Bedford in both directions.

There is disruption between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction , National Rail reported, which is expected to last until 11am.

Southern Rail customers have also experienced issues.
