Vote for Met’s best local policing team

9 November 2012

Londoners are being asked to vote for the best local policing team.

Police have shortlisted four Safer Neighbourhood Teams who have made “an outstanding difference to their community”. They include one team who posed as homeless people to tackle gangs behind a spate of car break-ins.

Another used decoy operations after a series of mobile phone thefts. The teams are from Turkey Street in Enfield, Enfield Lock, New Cross and Herne Hill.

Senior officers are encouraging local neighbourhood police officers to investigate more crimes, as well as walking the beat.

In a separate initiative Haringey officers including Inspector Chris Donaldson, Sergeant Mike Tisi, Sergeant Matthew Casey and Sergeant Alex Winter have received awards for bravery during the riots last year.
