A woman has died in hospital four days after she was rescued from a huge fire at a house in north London.

The victim was carried to safety by firefighters on Sunday morning from the first floor of the house in Sweet Briar Green, Edmonton.

She was taken to hospital by an ambulance crew but died of her injuries on Thursday, the London Fire Brigade said.

The house was badly damaged in the blaze which destroyed the roof, most of the first floor and half of the second floor.

Three other people left the building before fire crews arrived.

The cause of the fire, which was tackled by firefighters from Tottenham, Enfield, Southgate and Walthamstow fire stations, is under investigation.
