A snore bore in the House

Lord Rennard hadn’t been seen in Parliament since his suspension from the Lib-Dems, after allegations over improper behaviour towards female party members. But on Tuesday he was seen on the backbench alongside Baroness Tonge, another Lib-Dem peer who was dismissed from the front line in 2010 and eventually resigned from the party.

Rennard was back in Parliament again yesterday, this time in the House of Lords library. He had parked himself in a chair, closed his eyes and taken a kip. The snoring, I’m told, disturbed fellow peers shuffling through the papers. What was more surprising was that Rennard’s snooze was at midday, not after a long lunch.
