Chorus of approval for Keira Knightley’s singing voice

At the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Keira Knightley’s new film Can a Song Save Your Life? on Saturday, talk revolved around the Teddington thespian’s singing ability. Knightley plays an aspiring singer in the film, which had its Grey Goose-sponsored after-party at Toronto eaterie Patria.

My spy said, “Keira has only sung once onscreen before and had just two weeks to rehearse.” The film’s director John Carney told me, “Keira has a lovely little voice and she’s so humble about it. We threw her into the frying pan and she delivered.” Knightley herself, wearing a Mary Katrantzou floral dress, spent most of the party sat in a dimly lit alcove smoking, which did nothing to dispel her chanteuse credentials.
