The Londoner noted a potent alliance between former EU Trade Commissioner Lord Mandelson and Ken Clarke, Minister without Portfolio, when the two attended the Bilderberg group meeting in Chantilly, Virginia, in the summer.

This evening they will perform a double act as they launch the Centre for British Influence in Europe campaign at Smith Square following David Cameron’s recent Europe speech.

Also on the bill for the launch is Liberal-Democrat Treasury chief secretary Danny Alexander, who is threatening to break ranks over Europe. As far as the Londoner knows, Alexander has yet to receive his Bilderberg invitation. Perhaps this year?
