Despite trying to distance himself from Julie Burchill’s article on transsexuals — “Actually, it’s an Observer piece,” tweeted Guardian editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger, in response to complainants — his own paper is still banging the drum for “owning the weekend” (and the Observer).

Today’s spoof ad in the Guardian reads “notice to cease and desist using the term ‘weekend’ without permission from the Saturday Guardian and the Observer on Sunday.” As Observer editor John Mulholland might say: “Actually, it’s a Guardian ad.”
