When to see the partial solar eclipse in the UK

In ancient times, eclipses were regarded as supernatural events and often accepted as bad omens.

A partial solar eclipse happens when the sun and moon are slightly out of line with the Earth, causing the moon to partially obscure the Sun.

The first partial eclipse of the year happened on April 30, 2022, and was not visible in the UK.

But fans of celestial events will be glad to hear that there is a second partial solar eclipse happening today (October 25) and this one will be visible.

What time is the next partial solar eclipse?

The second partial eclipse of the year is set to take place on October 25, 2022.

Experts say it will be visible from Europe, western Asia, and northeast Africa, with those in and around Russia’s West Siberian Plain seeing the moon take the biggest “bite” out of the sun.

This will be the last solar eclipse we will experience for a while.

According to Nasa’s eclipse prediction calculator, the next solar eclipse visible to the Brits will be on March 29, 2025.

How can we see it in the UK?

The partial solar eclipse will be visible in the UK from 10.08 am on October 25.

The peak of the eclipse is expected at 10.59 am before it comes to an end at 11.51 am.

It is vital that the viewers remember to wear protective eyewear to view the partial solar eclipse as the sun’s UV rays can cause damage to the naked eye.
