James Palumbo
Ministry of Sound founder
His nightclub started in Elephant & Castle two decades ago and through merchandising and music sales is now a global brand. Amassing an estimated fortune of about £170 million, writing two satirical books on the side and supporting the Liberal Democrats as an important donor, his influence is broad indeed.

Nick Jones
Soho House Group founder
The members’ club mogul has become even richer by selling half of his remaining 20 per cent share in Soho House to US billionaire Ron Burkle, which gave Jones an estimated £25 million windfall. Kirsty Young’s other half has just opened a triple offering of Pizza East, Chicken Shop and Dirty Burger in Kentish Town. Jones has exported Soho attitude to Somerset, Berlin, New York and the world.

Robin Birley
5 Hertford Street owner
NEW ENTRY
You can take the name from the man — as Richard Caring did when he bought up much of the Birley family empire — but not the genes for clubbability. Like his father Mark, creator of Annabel’s, Robin has fashioned a new Mayfair haven where members feel at home with people exactly like themselves.

Jonny Boud
Alex Potter

Love Brunch co-founders
NEW ENTRY
Leeds graduates who have been busy entertaining Sloanes all over London with their nomadic daytime club, Love Brunch, which launched last year. After this resounding success, they expanded their entrepreneurial CVs by jumping on the ping pong bandwagon and opening Ping in Earls Court, marrying the social sport with DJs, cocktails and pizza.

Pippa Middleton
Party planner
Kate’s younger sister is a paparazzo’s dream — with the looks and well-bred friends that guarantee acres of media coverage. She is discreetly cashing in on her royal connections with her party-planning book Celebrate, published by Penguin with a rumoured six-figure deal. Every nightclub and restaurant wants Pippa to show.

Matt Tucker
Dan Beaumont

Dalston Superstore co-founders
When these East End boys opened this place in 2009, they swiftly stole the booze and party crown from neighbouring Shoreditch. The former Trailer Trash and Disco Bloodbath DJs run parties so good that they were even given a spot at this year’s Stop Making Sense festival in Croatia.

SBTRKT
DJ/Producer
NEW ENTRY
Twelve months ago SBTRKT, aka Aaron Jerome, was on no one’s radar, but a string of high-profile remixes has led to the meteoric rise of this masked and frustratingly elusive figure. As UK bass culture continues to dominate on both sides of the Atlantic, SBTRKT’s solo outings with zeitgeist label Young Turks have consistently put him at the forefront of the electronic music scene.

Charlie Gilkes
Duncan Stirling

Bunga Bunga owners
P-Middy’s mates made their names through Kitts and Barts and more recently, Bunga Bunga — a bar bathed in homage to fun-loving former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi — which is a regular hang-out of many a Sloane Ranger, and even Prince Harry. They’re now planning to open more around the new American Embassy in Vauxhall.

Blaise Bellville
Boiler Room founder
NEW ENTRY
Marlborough College-educated entrepreneur started underage club night All Age Concerts (which he franchised), mouthy online magazine Platform and Boiler Room. The latter is what he’s really famous for — he streams private underground music shows on the internet for people to watch at home.

Sub Focus
DJ/Producer
NEW ENTRY
The current poster boy for bass (real name, Nick Douwma) has thrown the music world into disarray with his incredible live shows. “There was a club that burned down after I played in it,” the Westminster-educated south Londoner recently claimed. That sums it up nicely.
