London commuters face severe delays during this evening’s rush hour as police investigate reports of a person being hit by a train near Stratford.

Trains through Stratford are being affected as emergency services deal with the incident between Bethnal Green and the station, with delays expected until 7pm on Greater Anglia and Overground services.

In an update Greater Anglia said all services had been cancelled from Liverpool Street.

Following an earlier police incident at Royal Oak station, there are also delays on the Circle line and Hammersmith and City line, and on trains in and out of Paddington station.

A spokesperson for TfL said: “We reopened the lines to severe delays just after 15:30. We are looking to get the service back to normal as soon as possible and hope it will not have too much of a knock on effect to rush hour commuters.”

Fire and ambulance crews assisted police to safely remove a man from the bridge earlier this afternoon, which overlooks the Royal Oak railway line.

Commuters reported that police closed the road to traffic and bus services outside the station. The road has now been reopened.

British Transport police said the man came down voluntarily and all lines have since reopened.

There is currently a good service on all other lines.
