City commuters suffered long delays into Fenchurch Street today after a signal failure hit peak time services.

This delayed trains between Southend Central and the busy Square Mile station via Grays.

A shuttle service operated between Grays and Upminster.

Packed Brighton line trains to Victoria were delayed due to a signal failure at Burgess Hill.

This also disrupted through-London First Capital Connect (FCC) trains from the South Coast to London Bridge and London Blackfriars.

Trains stacked up behind one another getting through the Burgess Hill area.

On the Tube, the Metropolitan line was suspended between Watford and Moor Park due to a signal failure at Watford.

The line reopend in time for the peak but minor delays continued.
