Police were today investigating after a man's body was discovered during the middle of the night in a busy Northern line Tube station.
Old Street station was shut throughout Sunday morning as detectives scoured the station, with the death described as "unexplained".
Police were called to the station at 1.27 on Sunday morning to reports that a body had been found.
Both London Underground trains and Great Northern services were not stopping at Old Street while police investigated. There was also no service on the Northern line northbound between Kennington and Camden Town via Bank.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called to Old Street underground station at 1.27am this morning to reports that the body had been found.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the station is closed while investigations continue.”
Disruption to Northern line lasted until midday, while Old Street station reopened at 1.30pm.
Police later confirmed that the man's death was being treated as non-suspicious and that his family had been informed.
A National Rail statement read: “The police are attending to an incident at Old Street on the London Underground station, and have closed the station for a short while.
“Network Rail and Great Northern are working with the Police to reopen the station as quickly as possible. Whilst this incident is ongoing, our services are not stopping at Old Street.
“We are sorry for the problems this disruption will cause you.”
