The shine was taken off England's big day - the first competitive football match at the new Wembley Stadium - when their opponents Italy scored within 30 seconds of the kick-off.
Many of the tens of thousands of fans had barely taken their seats when Gianpaulo Pazzini scored for Italy's under-21 team to give the famous stadium it's first goal in a time that will be hard to beat.
Some 55,700 England supporters filled the stadium as the national under-21 side drew 3-3 with Italy in a world record attendance for an under-21s game.
Tickets sold out for the event in less than six hours as fans jammed phone lines in a bid to become among the first people to see a game at the revamped venue.
But although most fans arrived at the stadium without problems, dozens who had already shelled out hundreds of pounds for special season passes were forced to queue to collect their tickets for the game.
One fan, businessman Steve Wright, from Hertfordshire, said he was "appalled" with the organisation after he queued for his ticket despite paying out £3,000 18 months ago.
He said: "They've had long enough to plan it, I think it is appalling. I run a company of 500 people and I would not treat them like this."
Mr Wright was one of many Club Wembley members who have applied for the right to buy a season ticket every year for the next 10 years.
A Wembley spokeswoman said there had been "teething problems" with issuing tickets for the game to Club Wembley members and she apologised to the fans.

But she added that the match was not a "core" event for Club Wembley and was merely a test to bring in enough fans to the new stadium ahead of it being granted a safety licence.
