Former England footballer Paul Konchesky had a lucky escape after crashing his high-powered Mercedes this weekend.

The London-born 34-year-old was pictured in a neck brace after a horror crash wrecked the front end of his car.

But the defender, who has spent this season on loan at QPR, miraculously escaped the crash with only cuts and bruises.

His wife, Lynzy Konchesky, took to Instagram to post pictures of the damaged car.

She said: “Well what a day… Someone up there was watching over my hubby today, maybe my uncle Dave.

“He has walked away from A&E after this bad car crash today with a few cuts and bruises, no broken bones it’s a miracle. Get well soon @paulkonch love u.”

The Leicester left-back, who has also played for Charlton, Tottenham and West Ham, later posted a video online after returning home to his wife and two children.

He said: “Wow!! What a day! But least I’m home now to my family and these two putting a smile back on my face! #lucky #man.”
