Four in court over biker's murder

12 April 2012

Four men are due to appear in court charged in connection with the murder of Hell's Angel Gerry Tobin.

The 35-year-old was killed on the M40 motorway on August 12.

A police statement said three men had been charged with murder and a fourth man had been charged with firearms offences.

All four are in police custody and will appear before magistrates in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Mr Tobin was shot as he rode home from the Bulldog Bash bikers' festival at Long Marston, near Stratford-upon-Avon.

He was killed with a single shot to the back of the head fired from a handgun. A second shot fired at the biker struck his motorcycle.

Mr Tobin was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, and lived with his family in Congleton before emigrating to Canada when he was two-and-a-half.

He returned to the UK about 10 years ago and worked as a mechanic in south London.

Three men were arrested in Nuneaton and Coventry on Wednesday morning, and a fourth on Wednesday evening in Coventry.
