Man charged over daughter's killing

12 April 2012

An insurance executive has been charged with murdering his two-year-old daughter, police said.

Alberto Izaga, 36, was charged with the murder of Yanire on June 3, Scotland Yard said.

He appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates Court and was conditionally bailed to appear at the Central Criminal Court on January 9, a spokesman said.

Yanire died at London's St Thomas' Hospital two days after she was found injured at her family home in Albert Embankment, central London.

A post-mortem examination on June 7 gave a preliminary finding that she died as a result of a head injury.

Izaga was suspended from his job at insurance giant Swiss Re after the incident.
