12 April 2012

A 39-year-old has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was found stabbed to death near a millpond, police have said.

Robert Broadbent, 18, was found dead in the Waterside area of Lockwood, Huddersfield, on Sunday morning.

The charged local man will appear before Dewsbury magistrates' court on Thursday morning, West Yorkshire police said.

Officers are still seeking the anonymous caller who phoned the emergency services on Sunday afternoon regarding the finding of bloodstained clothing.

Detective Superintendent Steve Payne said: "We think that this clothing has been discarded somewhere between the millpond at the Waterside area in Lockwood and the School Lane area in Paddock, Huddersfield."

Police are also appealing for anyone who was in the Kings Mill Lane car park at Aspley between 1am and 2am on Sunday to contact them on 0845 6060606 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
