Mark Wright has told fans he had a 12cm tumour removed from his armpit in a recent cancer scare.

The 34-year-old shared the news with his 1.8m followers on Instagram after initially being told by a doctor it was a “fatty lump” that didn’t need treatment.

But when the TOWIE star voiced his concern to specialists, they feared the lump could turn cancerous - asking him to have an operation to have it removed.

The star said he debated whether to share the news but decided to be open with his fans about his recent scare because it could help others.

He said: “I saw another specialist who happens to be a breast consultant for a second opinion.

“He was certain after seeing an ultrasound scan that it was a lipoma (a benign soft tissue tumour) however with it being rather large, he had a tiny bit of concern that it has/could turn into a sarcoma (a cancerous malignant tumour).

“However he was not 100% either way so to be more sure I had an MRI.”

Because of the size of the growth, the TV personality said a sarcoma specialist removed it only ten days after seeing scans.

“His fast and incredible turnaround was due to the fact he did not want to leave it any longer and wanted it out to prevent the rare risk of a LIPOMA turning into a sarcoma overtime,” said Wright.

Medics weren’t able to confirm whether the tumour was definitely “not something more sinister” but doctors have given him the all-clear.

He urged: “If you notice anything that doesn’t look or feel quite right. Don’t leave it.”

Wright, who is married to actress Michelle Keegan, is best known for appearing on The Only Way is Essex.

The TV personality moved back to the UK after a stint presenting Extra across the pond in the US.

He has made his mark on the entertainment spheres, having competed on both I’m A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing.
